Gardman Gets Growing at Glee

Visitors to the grow your own shop on the Gardman stand at Glee won’t be disappointed with the abundance of new products – there are nearly 100 new products on show, ranging from water timers, vegetable growing containers, plant supports, hanging baskets, decorative plant containers, obelisks and much more.

“The grow your own market phenomenon is beginning to mature and this means the challenge is how to keep consumers engaged. To keep consumers coming back, products have to work effectively, last and represent good value,” says Jane Lawler, marketing director at Gardman.  “Gimmicks are definitely out. Our new lines, along with the existing range, meet customers’ desires for practical products which help them grow ornamental plants, fruit and vegetables in their garden but which also have an element of decorative fashion appeal.  There’s no doubt that our new lines, especially those with added value or extra benefits will create new interest.”

Themed point of sale displays make it easier for even novice consumers to select everything they need to get great results with tomatoes, herbs, vegetables, strawberries and peppers and chillies, and therefore will help retailers to maximise their grow their own sales.

Many of the new products in the growing section are equally relevant to flowers and plants as they are to fruit and vegetables.  All new growing products will be available from January 2012.

Grow It!

Highlights on the stand are a new planter range in strong UV treated fabric with internal metal support in three sizes; a 114cm tall jumbo grow tower with a self watering insert; a tomato tower, and a rigid plastic planter range with rigid mesh support and inset wheels and self watering insert. All of these products help gardeners grow fruit and vegetables in smaller urban gardens or on patios.

Other new products in the Grow It! range include an orchid dripper, an improved large fruit cage encased with welded mesh and giant cloche hoops.

Two new products which help gardeners sow seeds more accurately – a seed sower and precision seed sower – are expected to be winners.

Irrigation

Also on the Gardman stand is a range of irrigation products which make it much easier for gardeners to automatically water their garden efficiently and effectively, including a starter kit, patio kit, extension kit, a soaker hose and water timer.  Rounding off the new irrigation products are two 2.3 litre indoor watering cans in a fashionable design and colours, a long spout watering can and large (9 litre) pastel watering cans in cream and mint green.

Plant support

New Blacksmith spiral border supports add structure and appeal to borders, with or without plants, during any season of the year.  Three sizes range from 50cm to 1.4m high.  There are also new high quality hardwood tree stakes which are independently certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Also new at Glee are decorative contemporary planter baskets in metallic finishes and a Craftsman range with a wrought iron construction with a mottled grey/silver finish.  Blacksmith planters in attractive straight and curved shapes will add appeal to gardens.

Additionally, new jumbo-sized Coronet obelisks help to add structure to the garden as well as act as plant supports and natural willow obelisks that expand in seconds are ideal for easy and attractive merchandising.  The Empire obelisk triple set is housed inside each other for easy merchandising and two sizes of Fleurs de Lys square obelisk with a weathered finish follow the theme of being both attractive and practical.
