Gardman Company History

Gardman was founded in 1992 by its Chairman, founder & owner Paris Natar. By 2006 Group sales had grown to $125m & are currently running at a rate of $130m plus pa. Gardman is one of the top three UK garden & leisure companies. It has been awarded the GCA/GIMA Supplier of the Year award for the seven consecutive years 2002 to 2008 and the Haskins Stewarts GCA trophy in 2004, 2006 & 2007.

Company activities include wild bird & nature care together with a large number of garden product categories which include:

Intellectual Property

Gardman holds international patent, trade mark, registered design, design & copyright intellectual property and has a group policy of vigorously defending these rights anywhere in the world. The company will take appropriate legal action against any person, company, organisation or body who infringes our intellectual property rights.

Scale of purchasing activity

Gardman Group receives over 2,000 containers pa and spends in excess of $60m pa on supplier purchases.

The company is a large buyer of groundnuts, sunflower & nyger seeds, suet products, wild bird care accessories together with wire & metal garden products, plastics, bamboo & wood items and garden lighting. Groundnuts must have nil detectable aflatoxin levels.

Gardman is expanding rapidly and welcomes contact from potential new suppliers who can bring demonstrable additional value to our product offer and supply chain.

The company has a policy of forming mutually beneficial long term relationships with suppliers and does not disrupt these without good reason & warning. As a leading industry company we expect suppliers to offer us consistently high quality products when & where we want them at the lowest possible price consistent with an agreed specification. In return for consistent high quality low cost supply we give substantial volume orders & security.

• Gardman supports the BTO, BSA, GBHi & a number of Wildlife Trusts
• Wherever possible Gardman buys FSC wood products
• Where appropriate Gardman buys products which include recyclable and/or recovered raw materials. i.e. Aluminium.& packaging materials
• The company supports school, university & postgraduate students in the UK & overseas
